Life, healthy living, crochet, garden updates.

Hello my bloggy friends. I have been so busy with family and life I have barely had time to breathe. We have had 2 family reunions so far this summer. One for my step-father's side of the family and one on the 4th of July for my dad's side of the family. I found out a couple of days before the 4th that my dad's mom has cancer. She has tumors in her lungs and possibly tumors in her stomach and legs. She is 87 years old and has lived a very full life! I haven't seen my dad's side of the family for many years (I was a child) so it was nice to see them all together. Unfortunately I forgot my camera and was unable to get pictures :(

We have been doing many family things as well. We have been on hikes and bikes. We have been here and there. Let me tell you, I couldn't wait until my kiddos got old enough to do those things but now they want to go and go and I have no time to rest! I guess my kids being so active is a good thing in many ways. They keep their dad and I active and they aren't just sitting around watching television and video games.

My garden is doing really well. We have tons of big tomatoes that haven't turned red and tons of cherry tomatoes that are still green. I cannot wait to eat my first homegrown tomato of the season. There is just something about a nice garden tomato. Their taste and texture is so much different than store bought. I have had 2 cucumbers so far from my garden and there are so  many little babies on there I know I will be making fridge pickles and possibly canning pickles. I also have had a squash and zucchini from the garden which i fried up per request of my darling hubby. Oh and an enormous head of broccoli. I will have to post pics soon. I have melons growing as well as bell peppers, onions, and jalapeno babies. I couldn't be happier with my 3 little garden beds.

Speaking of fresh fruits and veggies, I have been eating clean for 5 days now. I have been wanting to take control of my health and body for some time now and I just wasn't seeing the results I wanted from previous workouts. I found this website called bodyrock and I have found everything I need to succeed in losing my flabby tummy. There are motivational stories from other "bodyrockers", lots of recipes and food challenges and advice, tons of short, high impact workouts. I LOVE this website so much it is now my homepage!! Anyway back to my clean living. I get up in the morning and I do my bodyrock exercise of the day (whatever is the latest one on the website). Then I have either a post workout smoothie with fresh fruit, milk, and protein powder or I will make some oatmeal with protein powder and fresh fruit. I eat between 1200-1500 calories a  day while I am trying to lose fat. Once I get where I want to be I will be eating to maintain which is more calories. I also eat 4-5 times a day (about ever 2.5-3 hours) and each meal and snack contains a lean protein, a carb (fruit, veggie, or other good carb) and a good fat (olive oil, almonds, ect). I also walk between 1-3 miles every night and have even jogged some! I have lost 2 lbs (possibly more) in 5 days! I'm telling you, I will never go back to fast food, lots of pop, and a diet mainly of processed foods. I feel so good it is amazing.

I have had little time to crochet this summer. I have 2 of my many projects that I am currently working on. One is squares for share a square (blog says 2010 but same rules apply for 2011) I want to make 150 (the max) this year and haven't even broken 20 yet and we can send them to Shelly in August. I am also STILL working on my son Eddie's granny stripe blanket. I usually work on it some at night in my bed so I can judge how long it needs to be. I would say I am about 3/4 of the way finished with the stripes and will do a red border and it will be finished. I still need to make my both of the girls their granny rectangle blankets. I will take them to my local yarn store or to hobby lobby and let them pick out the yarns they want. They are very excited about that! I also have 2 other works in progress that have been hibernating forever that I want to get finished soon...I need more time lol.

That is going to be all for now my friends. I have some stuff to do around the house and then the kiddos want to jump in the pool. Hey, I can crochet some squares while they are in the pool and I am watching them :)
Until next time my friends Be Blessed.
